Canada's flagship optics-photonics institute, the National Optics Institute (INO) recently inaugurated its Montreal office, in the presence of Mr. Jocelin Dumas, Deputy Minister, ministère de l'Économie, de la Science et de l'Innovation and Mr. George Arseneau, Director General, Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.
With 30 years of expertise in optics, photonics and imaging in the service of Quebec and Canadian industries, INO is getting closer to its Montreal partners with the establishment of this office, located on the premises of the Computer Research Institute of Montreal (CRIM). Thanks to this strategic location and a business development team dedicated to the metropolis, INO will be able to provide technological support to businesses in the region, particularly to support them in the transition to the era of industry 4.0. Customer proximity and intimacy being at the heart of INO's concerns, it was essential to offer services to Montréal businesses by being on the spot, at the heart of the action.
" INO's physical presence in Montreal will allow us to be even more active in the province's innovation ecosystem. The applications of photonics and video analytics are numerous in robotics, Internet of Things and additive manufacturing. The next few years will be fertile in concrete manufacturing uses of these technologies in the metropolitan region ", says Alain Chandonnet, INO's Chief Executive Officer.
The official inauguration was held on June 7, at a cocktail reception with INO's key partners, including representatives of the provincial and federal governments, who made this first phase of this expansion plan possible.
