Jacques Topping, FCPA, MBA, ASC

Jacques Topping is currently president of MissionBis, a holding company, and a director of several companies. He is the chairman of the board of directors of the National Optics Institute (INO).

He began his career as a chartered accountant (CA) in 1977 and practiced this profession for 5 years. He also holds an MBA from Laval University specialized in information systems, obtained in 1984. In 2007, he completed the ASC certified corporate director program. In 2020 he became a Fellow CPA.

In 1985, he co-founded Groupe Informission inc. (Nurun TSX: NUR), an interactive information technology service and software company. He resigned as president and chief executive officer of the latter in 2000. Under his leadership, the company had accomplished 9 mergers and acquisitions, had over 1,100 employees and declared annual sales in excess of 120 millions of dollars.

Since 2000, Mr. Topping has served on, or continues to serve on, 30 boards of directors or advisory committees, 10 of which as chair, in 4 different sectors. The financial sector: InnovExport Fund, Kaleido Fund (Universitas), Montreal Exchange, Desjardins Venture Capital, CED Technoregion Fund. The digital business sector: Frima Studio, CAA, Kronos techno, V-NEO, 3 OAK, Nurum (TSX: NUR), Versus informatique inc., Odesia (TSX: DUF.P), Humagade, Clic-Net inc., Réseau ACTION TI (FIQ), Quebec Technology Association (Interlogiq). The entrepreneurship sector: Entrepreneuriat Laval, OSEntreprendre, FORCE 4.0, Entrepreneurship Action Table for the National Capital of the Ministry of the Economy, Quebec Chamber of Commerce and Industry, InnoCentre, Quebec City, Quebec International, Chair in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Laval University and of course the telecommunications and optics / photonics sector: National Optics Institute (INO), TELUS (TSX: T.NV), Technologies Obzerv inc. and Mori. Mr. Topping also sits on CAA-Québec and on the committee of the Council for the Advancement of the Faculty of Science and Administration at Laval University.

He has received a few distinctions such as Fellow CPA, Les Remarquables, Ambassador, Sherpa elite, Méritic 2015, Grand Officer du Cercle de la Rectrice de l’Université Laval, Hermès, Émérie CA, etc. He is frequently invited to speak at major events and is involved in the community, having, among others, created two funds, the Vision Topping Fund at Laval University as well as the Plourde-Topping Fund at the « Fondation Quebec Philanthrope », aimed at helping Quebec society.

Mr. Topping is recognized for his visions for the future, his innovative ideas that bring changes, his unifying leadership, his notoriety, his passion for entrepreneurship, making him who he is and will remain a dominant figure in our societal development.
